Self Access Center

Çankaya University Preparatory School Self-Access Center aims to encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning and participate in language learning activities outside the classroom and provides them with an independent learning environment. It has three main functions:

1. Enabling students to effectively use the language learning materials in our center;
2. Providing access to the materials via the Internet;
3. Providing subject-specific tutorials upon student request.

In our center, there are materials that aim to improve students’ grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening and writing skills. Some of these materials are designed to help students with their language learning process in general, while some others prepare them for the midterms and the proficiency exam they take in our school. The original materials are also available online. (Click here for the Monthly Revision Materials.) The other materials can be borrowed -books for a period of 10 days and CD’s and VCD’s for 5 days. All the study materials are accompanied by answer keys so as to motivate students to study independently.

In order to provide students with an opportunity to use online language learning websites, there are computers with Internet connection. Students can also listen to the CD’s and watch the VCD’s in our center using these computers.

Our center provides subject-specific tutorials which may be about study skills, preparing for exams, designing projects, writing and speaking. These tutorials are arranged and conducted upon student request on Tuesdays between 14:00-17:00.
